Another sweep for Colombia
For the second consecutive day Colombia swept the titles in team competition at the 19th Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador. After winning the men's and women's gold medals in trios, the Colombian five-player teams managed to repeat the feat.
Paola Gomez, Clara Juliana Guerrero, Luz Adriana Leal, Margarita Roa and Sara Vargas maintained their lead after day one and took the gold medal with pinfall total of 5875, an average of 195,83 after six team-games. Mexico overtook Venezuela in the final game, 989-965, to earn silver.
Andres Gomez, Jaime Monroy, David Rivera, David Romero and Julio Soto
started the second day with an 1177-score (235,4 average) to leap from 4th
to first place. They finished at 6183 (206,1) to win the gold medal, 27 pins
ahead of the Mexicans, who earned silver. Bronze went to Guatemala. First
day leader Venezuela slipped all the way out of the top 3 to fourth place.
